The War BeginsOn May 11, 1637, a court gathered in Hartford. These men decided that it was time to bring justice to the murderous Pequot. 160 men, including 90 from the colony, and 70 from the River and Mohegan tribes, were ordered by the court to take up arms against the Pequot. On June 5, the valiant soldiers attacked the heathen settlement of Mystic, and brought the righteous fury of God down upon the Pequot savages.
